Ceredigion’s stunning heritage coastline with its International Blue Flag, Green Coast and Seaside Award winning beaches, coastal paths and the superb marine wildlife of Cardigan Bay (with seals, birdlife and bottlenose dolphins) are just minutes away. 

Beaches – the Blue Flag Beach at Poppit Sands is a glorious stretch of beach with sand dunes. Mwnt Beach is owned by the National Trust and the headland overlooks a small and secluded sandy beach. There are views of Cardigan Island from the cliffs.  Aberporth Beach is another Blue Flag beach and is a  favourite with bathers; surfers and sailors alike.  Some other nearby beaches are: Cwmtydu, Llangrannog, Penbryn, Tresaith, New Quay, Cei bach, Borth, Clarach, Aberystwyth - to name only a few. 

 

Walking – We have gentle country walks or strenuous mountain hikes.  Why not find out more about the Ceredigion Coastal Path?  So much choice – so little time to explore it all, that you’ll find yourself coming back time and time again to pick up where you left off!    There are invigorating walks across wild headlands with stunning views, challenging mountain hikes in the Cambrian Mountains, riverside rambles along the Teifi, Aeron Rheidol and Ystwyth valleys, or delightful strolls along country lanes with ancient hedgerows full of wildflowers, birds and butterflies  ………  the list is endless.  The famous Cardigan Walking Festival takes place in the autumn, with lots of organised walks that explore some of the hidden delights of the region.

Wildlife – Dolphins, seals, porpoises, buzzards, red kites, otters and many others are here to see, so keep your eyes open!

Coastal Towns – from Cardigan to Aberystwyth, virtually all of the coastal towns and villages along the Ceredigion coast have a special charm, with the many coloured Georgian and Victorian houses and shop fronts. Of special note is New Quay, recently renowned for the filming of “The Edge of Love” about the life of Welsh Poet and Dramatist Dylan Thomas.

Art and Crafts – the Ceredigion coast provides inspiration for many artists and the Cardigan Open Studios Week provides a great opportunity to see some of their works. Local photographers are naturally inspired by this beautiful area.

Cycling – Bring your own bicycle or hire bikes for a day and go where the fancy takes you! 

Activities – At Cardigan Bay Watersports you can hire a sailing dingy, windsurfer, kayak or powerboat. Or perhaps you fancy booking a Boat Trip with Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre (01545 560 032) or even hire a canoe with Heritage Canoes at Cilgerran (01239 613 961)?

Fishing – The famous salmon leap at Cenarth Falls is only a few miles away. Daily and weekly fishing licenses are available from the Post Office in St Dogmaels (01239 612 563).  Local fishing club information will be located within Golwg Y Bae’s ‘info file’.

Castles – There are many castles (and ruins!) in Ceredigion –  once again, see Golwg Y Bae’s information file.  e.g. Newcastle Emlyn Castle; Cardigan Castle; Cilgerran Castle. More detailed information can be gleaned from CADW – the Welsh equivalent of English Heritage.

Historic Buildings and Gardens – the National Trust looks after a number of properties in Wales, including the local Llanerchaeron House and Garden, (which is merely 2 miles away). Wales also boasts many fine gardens which are well worth a visit.

Golf – enjoy a round or two at Penrhos Golf Club (Llanrhystud – 7 miles away); Lampeter Golf Club (10 miles away) or maybe Cardigan Golf Club (20 miles away).

External Description:  Private mature garden with: flower borders, apple and plum tree, blackcurrant bush, herb garden (help yourself to some herbs if you need some for cooking whilst staying at Golwg Y Bae), 3 patios, 3 lawns and a 2 vehicle gated driveway.

General Description:  The property has a combination boiler which in turn provides oil fired central heating and instant hot water.  Inclusive within the rental price quoted will be:  bed linen; a set of towels per person, shampoo; conditioner; shower gel; soap; 2 kitchen tea towels, tea; coffee; milk and sugar; central heating oil; electricity and ‘traditional welcome tea’ on arrival.
